Xhevat Serezi (1910-1983)
Veteran actor of the initiator generation of the “Popular Theatre”.
Born in Tirana in 1910. On the stage of the Popular Theater, although he had secondary roles, Serezi left his mark on the history of this institution of our art.
Serezi performed a total of 52 roles from the time he came to the Popular Theater in 1945, the year he joined the group of actors who would start the history of professional Albanian theater.
Since the 1930s, he had experience in the movement of amateur groups in the capital. Serezi masterfully performed all the roles that were entrusted to him, where stood out especially in the role of Liu in the comedy “The Prefect”.
Other roles: Xhevati in “Invadimi” / Dosha of Venedik in “Otello”, etc. All the roles played by him, although episodic, stuck to the spectator who watched Xhevati’s play, the seriousness and mastery of not repeating himself.
Xhevat Serezi passed away on July 17, 1983.
