Valbona Imami
Actress of the National Theater and teacher at the Academy.
Born in Tirané, on May 14, 1975. Graduated from the Academy of Arts as an actress in 1997. Since 200I, she worked as a teacher at this Academy, and from 2002 as an actress at the National Theater.
Imami started his career with a central role in the drama “Zonjusha Zhuli” – 1997. While at the “National Theater”, Imami started well and successfully in the role of Dhimitra in the drama “Kopshti me dallëndyshe”.
Other roles: The woman in “Dream of a winter night”, Ms. Petrela in “Man, virtue and animal”, Tea in “Utopus”, Amira in “Rainfalls”, as well as roles in “Carnivals of Korce”; “Seagull”; “The magic of red wine”, etc., has played a total of 17 roles in the theater, with works by authors such as: Strindberg, Pirandello, Kadare*, Byhner, Cinropiqus, Cehov, Osborn, etc., as well as three roles in films.
She is a dramatic actress, with a prominent sensitivity, who sometimes captures and gives almost natural depictions of the character’s neurotic outbursts (as with the role of Dhimitra in the drama Kopshti me dallendyshe by B. Cikliropoulos), sometimes hides deep feelings of love or the anxiety of insecurity under the appearance of feminine tenderness and fragility (as in Pirandello’s plays Man, Virtue, animal and Morsa) and other times it gives depictions of heavy psychological gas, hidden behind an ergmatism and deep sadness (as in Masha’s child the play “Seagull” by AP Cehov).
An actress with inner source sensitivity, on the other hand, she breaks the stereotypes and the random “psychological” format of her play with sharp grotesque, sarcastic and comical approaches and fractures in accordance with the othering tendencies and acting conceived as “play”, foreignness and fun.
Such a possibility is similar to the role of Emi in the play “Wedding City” by Bertold Brecht, 2007 or, somewhat differently, to the role of Elena in John Osborne’s “Youth and Madness”, 2006, where the humorous feeling and the Irish-poetic nuances stand out, for continued in the tones of an autosuggestive psychologies with the role of the maid in Jean Jennasis’s “Servants” (2008), in which she even delved into the motives of oppression and psychic frustrations of the character, simultaneously the victim of others and herself. On the movie screen, she performed in “The fatal letter”, but she is remembered for the role of Lola in the series “People and fates”.
V. Imami has participated in exchanges of professional experiences as well as meetings and theater festivals in Italy, Spain, Sweden, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Lebanon, Egypt. Germany etc.
She is the granddaughter of the well-known actress Besa Imami.
