Eduart Makri
Successful actor, director and screenwriter.

Born on June 5, 1957, in the city of Gjirokastra. After completing his higher studies at the High Institute of Arts (today the Academy of Arts) in the Acting department, he began working at the Kinostudio “Shqiperia e Re” as a director and screenwriter.

In 1993, Makri started working as a lecturer at the Academy of Arts. In 1997, he will be elected Executive Director of the Culture and Arts Foundation “Fan Noli”. In 1997, Eduart will be appointed Director of the Department of Film and Spectacle at the Albanian Public Television.

In 2000, left his homeland for Canada. In the theater stage he will perform several roles with the troupe of the Theater of the Higher Institute of Arts (today the Academy of Arts), such as the role of Kronstadt in the drama “Doll’s House” or the role of the Investigator in the drama “Death of a Girl”.

In cinematography, his first role as an actor will be that of Vaso in the film “Brothers and Friends” in 1980. Other interpretations would continue, such as the role of Aristotle in the television film “Dawns of the Great Season”, Gjergji in the movie “Red Covenant”, Andrea in the movie “In the name of freedom”, Pirro in the movie “Shpresa”, etc.

In directing, his first participation will be as an actor/second director in the movie “Plaku dhe Hasmi” in 1981, making a total of 11 directorial as an assistant director in the same number of films, collaborating with well-known directors such as Gëzim Erebara (Merited Artist), Hysen Hakani, Xhanfize Keko (People’s Artist) etc.

As a director, the first film fully directed by him will be the film “Shpresa” in 1989, followed by “Pirate’s Cave” in 1991.

By settling in the city of Toronto (Canada), he will continue his profession. Makri`s first role will be that of Andre Tristan, the painter in the movie “This is Wonderland” in 2004.

His most recent performance will be in the main role in the movie “Missing” Season 3, Episode “Cut” in the role of Viktor Brosky in 2006.

Eduart Makri is a full member of ACTRA (Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists). Since 2019, he is the general director of the National Center of Cinematography.
