Pirro Qiqi
Actor of “Zihni Sako” Theater and Albanian Cinematography
Born in Gjirokaster. In 1969, Qiqi started acting as an amateur actor with the Professional Estrada of Gjirokaster, where he performed 10 roles under the director Dhimiter Dhima. In 1970, started working as an actor at the Dramatic Theater in Gjirokastra.
Piro Qiqi has completed his studies at the High Institute of Arts during the period 1972-1975 and a year later, in 1976, he was appointed as a professional actor, returning to the “Zihni Sako” Theater. Qiqi ranks among the actors with the longest stage life in this institution, being associated with it for 42 consecutive years.
During his career, he has successfully performed a considerable number of roles, while simultaneously leaving his mark as a director and film actor in the cinematography.
Out of 100 roles played by Pirro Qiqi, he performed 68 in the Theater, 25 in the Professional Stage of the City and 7 in feature films of Kinostudio “Shqiperia e Re”. 70% of his roles in the Drama Theater are main roles, while Qiqi also has a valuable contribution in the field of directing, putting on stage 16 dramatic works by Albanian or foreign authors. 
Stage artist Pirro Qiqi has participated in three National Theater Festivals with: “Njeriu me top”, “Atje ne Ibro” and “Beselam pse me flijojne”.
For his qualities and merits, he was awarded 2 prizes at the National Theater Meetings in 1976 and 1979 with the title “Andon Zako Çajupi”, given by the Gjirokaster Municipality on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the creation of the Theater and with the title “Naim Frasheri” awarded from the Presidium of the People’s Assembly in 1990.
Pirro Qiqi is also known by the public for his contribution to the staging of many other shows, such as concerts, comedy or conference.
During the 80s, he was also a radio journalist, commentator of the Football show “From one match to another” (Nga njera ndeshje ne tjetren), from Gjirokastra for the local team “Luftetari”.
