Josif Minga
Composer, lecturer at Fan Noli University – Korçë. In over 120 musical works during his 40-year career, composed and processed by him!
Born in Korça on June 14, 1953. Graduated from the “Themistoklis Gërmenji” high school, showing musical inclinations from an early age. He took his first lessons in the accordion, where he stood out as a virtuoso instrumentalist, being awarded 3 times with first place at festivals.
Minga completed his higher studies at the High Institute of Arts and graduated in 1976, in the Theory-Composition department under the guidance of prof. Albert Paparisto and prof. Cesk Zadeja.
For 13 years after that, he worked as a teacher of artistic subjects, solfeggio, harmony, orchestration at the artistic high school “Tefta Tashko Koço” in Korçë. He was elected a member of the League of Writers and Artists of Albania and from 1976 onwards, secretary of music for the Korça branch.
From 1987-1993 was allowed to work as a freelancer and from 1993 until now he is a professor near the “Fan S. Noli” University, Korçë in the subjects: Artistic Education, Philosophy of Art, Cultural Heritage.
J. Minga completed specializations in Italy, England, Belgium. Minga has been creatively involved in all musical genres from an early age. Starting from vocal music, with easy listening songs, arrangements, romance albums in collaborations with prominent singers such as Afërdita Zonja, Eli Fara, the soprano Violeta Kacori.
There are many participations in song festivals in RTSH, where he has been awarded prizes. Also worth mentioning are the opera “Liceists” (1986), the operetta “Day of Joy” (1979), as well as 12 accapella chorales for mixed choir (2009).
Theme with variations for oboe and orchestra (1976), Rhapsody “+,-” (2009) has been outstanding and appreciated.
J. Minga has also written for chamber music, film music and theatre. For more than 40 years, Minga has been the leader and artistic director of various folklore and artistic ensembles and groups of the Korçë district, participating in activities inside and outside the country.
He has processed about 120 Albanian civic and folk songs. For its activity and contribution, it has been awarded with various prizes and medals.
