Actress of the professional theater “Aleksander Moisiu”, Durres!
Born on December 2, 1955, in Vlora!
From a young age, she was passionate about the performing arts, often attending movie theaters and, when she returned home, trying to imitate a character she had remembered.
For Katerina, art was a dream in the drawer, which later became a reality. Art was a special passion, with all its genres, music, painting, especially stage art, the desire, through different characters, to express her personal feelings, her love for life, for people.
Alongside the Korçë actor Zhani Zicishti of the “A. Z Cajupi” theater, she began preparations for the competition at the Academy of Arts in 1974.
Her professors were big names in the art of acting such as Naim Frashëri, Vangjush Furxhi & Misto Zoto, while in the artistic word, Viktor Zhusti.
Immediately after graduating from the Higher Institute of Arts in Tirana, she became part of the city of Durres and its “Aleksander Moisiu” Theater, creating here the main part of her artistic activity, and embodying in this theater, diverse roles, interpretations, some of them even in the main roles of many plays.
Her first role in the theater was that of the Bride in the play “To be 20 years old” by Bashkim Hoxha. Her second role was Angelika in Moliere’s comedy “The Imaginary Sick Man” directed by Sokrat Miho and Enver Plaku. Her partners were the greats of the stage, Nikolin Xhoja and Lutfi Hoxha.
Then the roles followed, one after the other, from which we can mention: “Welcome Elona” by Haxhi Rama, a part with which we performed at the theater festival in Tirana where I was honored as the Best Actress of the Festival, and then with the role of Matilda in “Whispering in Matilda’s House”, directed by Arben Imami. One of her last roles in the Durres theater was “House of Rabbits”.
At the same time, she played in several artistic and television films: “Emblema e dikurshme” TV (Benjamin’s wife); “Stars above Drin” – 1979 in the role of Rudina; “Time does not wait” – 1984 in the role of Nuria (see the photos below).
In addition to her acting, Katerina has also distinguished herself in recitations, receiving many accolades.
Moving to Italy has not yet diminished her magic of the stage, but her new job has distanced her a bit. She feels appreciated in Italy and maintains a constant connection with our emigrants in Trieste, the Italian city where she currently lives.
