Dhimitra Keta
One of the “pioneers” of lyric singers and soprano!

Born on August 15, 1920. She was one of the first lyric singers who debuted together with Marie Kraja, Jorgjia Truja and Gjyzepina Kosturi, artists who laid the foundations of operatic art in our country.

Distinguished since the early years of the Philharmonic and then of the Opera and Ballet Theater, where Keta performed a number of roles from the national and world operatic repertoire. Dhimitra Keta was distinguished for a wide vocal range and powerful timbre.

As her first teacher, People’s Artist Tefta Tashko Koço, put it, “This voice promised that she would become a lyric singer.” This was realized in 1953, with the staging of the opera “Rusalka,” where Dhimitra performed the role of

An undisputed success were also the interpretations of Vania in the opera “Ivan Susanin”, Berta in “The Barber of Seville”, Santuzza in “Cavalleria Rusticana”, Cio. Cio, San in “Madama Butterfly”, Zemfira in “Aleko”, Marcellina in “The Marriage of Figaro”, Mother Mara in “Mrika”, etc.

In addition to the roles she performed, Dhimitra had a rich repertoire of folk songs, romances and arias from operas. In addition to her artistic activity on stage, she also worked as a singing teacher at the “Jordan Misja” Artistic Lyceum.

In Albanian cinema, she starred in the film In Our Home (1979) where she played the role of a transient mother who wanted to sew Mir’s torn school apron.

She passed away in 1988. The same year that art lost Marie Logoreci, Avni Resuli, Jani Riza and many other beloved figures of art.
