Olimbi Bilali (Dhima)
Actress of “Skampa”, Elbasan
Born on September 13, 1941.
She graduated from the Higher Institute of Arts (ILA) as an actress and was appointed to the Skampa Theater in Elbasan, becoming one of the first female actresses along with her colleague, actress Antoneta Kristo, who were part of the staff that founded the theater by staging the first theatrical performances.
Her colleagues included renowned names of the theater such as Lec Shllaku, Antoneta Kristo, Demir Hyskja, Shpëtim Shmilli, Anastas Xhuvani, Hysen Biza, Sabaudin Bordi, Dhimosten and Veronika Papa, Astrit Çerma, Shani Shllaku, Tefta Hamzaraj, Zamira Begolli, Eduard Çala, Flutura Zavalina, Ilir Borodani, Liza Hajati, and others.
Olimbi performed in a large number of plays such as “Rethimi i parë”, where she stood out in her first drama and later in “Katër nga armata”, “Ah kjo traktoristja”, “Udha e Zavalineve”, “Në prag të jetës”, “Njeriu që pa vdekjen”, “Na duhet një magnetofon”, “Tokë e ndezur”, “Sa shumë gjethe të thata atë vjeshtë”, “Trumpetierja”, “Vëllezërit”, “Qelia Nr.7”, “Telefoni paralel”, “Flakët”, “Shtatë shaljanët”, and many others.
In cinema, she also appeared in the television film “Kronikë e atyre netëve” (1986). Olimbi Dhima continued her career at Teatri Skampa until 1992, when she retired. She married the theater director Xhelal Bilali, who directed many of the stage productions she worked on throughout the years, and in which he also performed himself.
Olimbi and Xhelal emigrated to Austria after the 1990s. She still lives there today with her family, carrying the nostalgia for Teatri Skampa and her homeland, as well as the grief over the loss of her husband, the director of many premieres, Xhelal Bilali, who passed away in Austria.
