Angjelina Xhara – Papalilo
Screenwriter, editor of the documentary film, former announcer at Radiotelevision (TVSH).

Born in Boboshtice, Korce, on July 13, 1949. Finished her studies at the University of Tirana for literary languages and at the same time became active as an announcer at Albanian Radiotelevision.

In the seventh grade, she participated in children’s shows. Then, in the second year of high school, she broadcasts the news directly at 8:00 p.m., which was the Evening Radio Magazine. It was special how a kid who didn’t understand politics made the headlines. Then in the second year at the University, in 1969, she gave the news as the first TVSH announcer, since Mrs. Vera Zheji did not want to appear as a news announcer at that time.

In 1970, Xhara started working as an editor at the Kinostudio “Shqiperia e Re”, writing the texts of newsreels, chronicles and documentaries.

Kinostudio and its activity are already known, which had a special method without having anything to do with the way other institutions were organized.

It was a controlled institution, but free within control. The creators themselves proposed the themes for the films, either artistic or documentary. A. Xhara, as a creator of the documentary film, started with the silkworm as a theme, directed by Adriana Elini and cameraman Agim Fortuzi. From the very beginning, even though she did not have much experience, she undertook to make the documentary film about the Revolution of 1924.

A. Xhara was generally inclined towards the historical theme, patriotic figures. Thus, she has made quite a few films based on these themes, in addition to the theme of women or children.

From 1974, she started writing herself or as a co-author of scripts for documentary films. So, until in 1984, she wrote about 25 screenplays, among which: “Year 24” – 1975 / “Our children” – 1975 / “Joy in the eyes of my mother” – 1975 / “Onufri” – 1976 / “Albanian flora” – 1977 / “Albanian paintings in Middle Ages” – 1981 / “National Historical Museum” – 1982 / “School beside Alps” – 1984 and others.

Xharra was also widely and more critically, writing a large number of articles in various press bodies about Albanian feature films and documentaries.
