A name that should be remembered for a long time. (Elida Shehu – ein Name, den man sich unbedingt merken sollte). Like old photos, my picture of life was black and white (Wie alte Fotos war mein Bild vom Leben schwarz und weiß)

A golden voice of the Albanian microphone was also the well-known singer of the late 70s and 80s, Elida Shehu. She immediately stands out and catches the attention of Albanian art lovers at a young age at the beginning of her career, making this audience her own.

Elida Shehu has experienced what she sings about: growing up in Albania, where as a young singer at the time she had a successful career on TV and radio, although not long in relation to that part of her homeland.

Participates in four RTSH Festivals. For the first time, she appeared in 1978 at the 17th Festival with the song “Grure dhe kenge” (dubbing of the one sung by Fatma Zyberi).

A year later she will participate with two songs in the 18th RTSH Festival (1979): “Seç më fton në stan” and a duet alongside Eduart Jubani with the song “N’ato fuşha plot me grure”.

Her participation will continue for the third consecutive year, in the 19th edition of the RTSH Song Festival, in December 1980, this time in a duet with Telemak Papapano with the song “Per jeten tone te re”.

In December 1981, at the 20th Song Festival at RTSH, her last performance with the song “Syri yt gjitë dritë”, will be for the 4th season in a row.

She left Albania after the 90s. Today she lives in Germany, more precisely in Hasbergen for 26 years, and has not given up music and the beautiful profession of a singer. Even there she manages to build an excellent career, in Germany, her second homeland.

Lyrics of Elida Shehu’s songs are unique: a fusion of cultures, love, disappointments and the strength not to give up.
