Kristo Kokoshari (1938 – 2020)
Actor of the amateur movement, member of the staff of the “A. Moisiu” Theater, Durres. He also acted in several films of Kinostudio

Born on January 16, 1938, in Paiania, Athens, Greece

During the Italo-Greek War, at a young age, he returned to Albania together with his mother and uncle Vasil Kokoshari. The family finally settled in Durrës, in 1954.

His great dream was to become a pilot, but due to difficult economic conditions, this dream did not come true. With much sacrifice and family love, he decided to work to help finance the scholarship of his brother, Vasil Kokoshari, who was accepted into the Academy of Arts and became a well-known playwright and painter of the time.

Initially, he was a worker in the electric crane brigade and a welding master. Kokoshari began his career as an amateur actor in the Durrës Estrada.

Right after, he became a member of the staff of the “Aleksandër Moisiu” theater, Durres, where he was lucky to have as colleague well-known names of stage and cinema such as Vangjel Heba, Haxhi Rama, Ali Bega, Liri Lushi, Milto Profi, Hysen Bashhysa, Sulejman Komomani, Pëllumb Deçolli, etc.

In addition to participating in the performances of this theater, he was also active in Albanian cinematography where he performed in 5 films of the Kinostudio film, either in secondary or episodic roles.

Although he did not follow a full academic path in art, he had an artistic soul. He was a dedicated amateur actor with a special declamation, beloved by the public and appreciated by his contemporaries. He participated in several films and dramas, as part of the artistic troupe at the “Aleksandër Moisiu” Palace of Culture in Durrës.
