Kiço Blushi (1943-2019)
Writer, screenwriter, playwright and publicist.
Born in Korce, on August 23, 1943. Completed his higher studies in literary languages at the University of Tirana and then started working for Albanian Television in 1966. Blushi worked for 20 years (1968-1986) at the editorial office of the feature film at the Kinostudio “Shqiperia e re”.
For a long time he has worked in the League of Writers and Artists, editor-in-chief in the magazine “Nendori / November”, while after the 1990s, he was also involved in politics as a member of the People’s Assembly.
Blushi has published stories, novels, dramas, film scripts, etc.
He has written a considerable number of scripts for artistic and documentary films and some of them have been honored with prizes.
With the script of the film “Beni ecen vete”, 1975, he started the path to success.
After this film, he wrote two interesting screenplays: “The Forest of Freedom / Pylli i lirise” – 1976 and co-authored with N. Xhafa the film “Bloody Earth / Toke e pergjakur” – 1976.
Then in 1978 he wrote the script for the film “Concert in 1936”. In 1979, wrote “In our house / Ne shtepine tone”, honored with the Special Prize at the X International Festival of Gifone (Italy).
Screenplays of other films:
“Second November / Nentori i dyte” – 1982 (co-author with Mr. Shuteriqi), “A night without light / nje nate pa drita” – 1981, “A telegram, a song / Nje telegram, nje kenge” – 1982; “The Militant / Militanti” – 1984, “Pupils of my class / Nxenesit e klases sime” – 1984; “The Mistake / Gabimi” – 1986.
While documentaries we can mention: “Our Circus / Cirku yne” – 1971; “The big party / Festa e madhe” – 1972; “The art of carving in wood / Arti i gdhenjes ne dru” – 1974, etc.
In the genre of cartoons, he wrote the scripts: “The Little Driver / Shoferi i vogel” – 1977; “Earring in ear / Vath ne vesh” – 1982 etc.
As a dramatist, he became known with the plays “Shelter of all / Catia e te gjitheve” in 1969; “Between two people / Ne mes dy njerezve” -1972; “Lezja” – 1975; “Dea’s Last Tragedy / Tragjedia e fundit e Edeas” – 1979;
Kico Blushi passed away on February 8, 2019
