Vangjel Gjikondi (1958-2023)
Costume painter at Kinostudio “Shqiperia e Re”
The artistic level of films has fallen, we no longer have screenwriters, directors or artists (2019)
Born in Tirana on August 20, 1958. Headed the artistic high school “Jordan Misja” without leaving work. Gjikondi worked at the same time in the Artistic Enterprise “Migjeni” in wood carving.
In 1978, enrolled in the High Institute of Arts, which he finished in 1982, graduating in the Monumental Easel department.
In 1983, started working at Kinostudio “Shqiperia e Re”, first in the department of cartoons for a few months and later as a costume painter in feature films.
Vangjel Gjikondi made the costumes for the feature film “Pupils of my class / Nxenesit e klases sime” – 1983.
Until 1992, he made the costumes for 10 other feature films such as “Love your name / Duaje emrin tend”; “Hot Autumn 41 / Vjeshte e nxehte e 41″; “Footprints in the snow / Gjurme ne debore”; “Bitter Spring / Pranvere e hidhur”; “Nothing is forgotten / Asgje nuk harrohet”; “The Mistake / Gabimi”; “When you are separated from your friends / Kur ndahesh nga shoket”; “The train leaves at seven to five / Treni niset ne shtate pa pese”; “Behind the facade / Pas fasades”. 
At the beginning of the 90s, Gjikondi emigrated for a few months to Greece, where he worked as a commissioned painter.
He returns to Albania and opens a joint art gallery with some of his friends.
In 1998, he opened his personal art gallery “Gjikondi”;
Since in 1985, he participated in several fine arts exhibitions.
In 1991, presented his works at the National Art Gallery as well as at the biennial of Alexandria in Egypt.
In 1998, opened a personal exhibition in Paris under the auspices of the Albanian Embassy there, as well as another one, in Paris at the “Maison de Pirenej”.
In 2018, as part of the National Year of Gjergj Kastriot – Skanderbeu, he brought the figure of our National Hero through 55 paintings, a completed work that took him 10 years to complete this exhibition.
As his hobby, he also practiced poetry by publishing poems in various press bodies. Passed away on July 25, 2023
