Vilson Gjoça
Albanian theater and film actor.
Born in 1937 in the village of Zhulat, Gjirokastra.
He discovered his talent for art and acting since he was a child in 1952, when was still in a mechanical school and participated in local festivals, performing dance with enthusiasm, even without professional training.
Over the years, he became part of the Army Show (Estrada e Ushtrisë), where he built his artistic career with humor and lively performances.
His most beloved role remains that of “Loli”, a clown with orange hair, a red nose and lips, who brought smiles to children and transcended the sadness of the times. With this character, Gjoçaj became a symbol of humor, especially during the transition period in Albania, often using a critical attitude towards reality through clever comedy.
Roles in the theater were numerous, especially in the comic-dramatic variety.
In cinema, he starred mostly after the 1980s in films such as “Strings for Violine / Tela per violine”” (1987), “Benches in the Park / Stolat ne park” (1988), “So and So / Edhe keshtu edhe ashtu” (1989), “The Historian and the Chameleon / Historiani dhe Kameleoni” (1989), “Loneliness / Vetmia” (1990), “Chronicle of a Night / Kronike e nje nate” (1990) and “The Night / Nata” (1998). After the 1990s, Gjoca became active in the comedy genre, performing in different humor shows in Albanian TVs.
