Bujar Asqeriu, the well-known actor of the Albanian Theater and Cinematography.
Born on August 13, 1956, in Vlorë, is one of the most prominent actors of the Albanian stage and screen, of the 80-ties generation, the generation that knew how to give a youthful spirit pleasant “aroma” of our cinema.
The names of B. Asqeriu alongside, N. Xhepa, R. Bulku, P. Malaj, K. Caushi, E. Alikaj, Xh. Ferri, etc., these are the names that were lucky enough to work with the giants of the stage, basic actors such as Naim Frasheri, Sander Prosi, Ndreke Luce, Kadri Roshi, Tinka Kurti, Violeta Manushi, etc., learning, contributing and continuing the success of the art of Albanian Theater Film.
Bujar’s dream was actually to become an engineer, but life took a completely different direction. Only after a random performance in a competition between schools, where Bujari performed for the mechanical school, even being announced as the winner, he suddenly felt that he could become an actor.
This is how the adventure to become an artist begins. Graduated as an actor at the Academy of Arts in Tirana in 1979 and then returned to his hometown, Vlore. For 15 years, he has been active as an actor of the “Petro Marko” Theater in Vlora.
During this period, he had an intense career in film as well, starting with the roles of Fatos and Muzaka, respectively in the films “In our house” (1979) and “Freedom or Death” (1979). But he had the greatest success with the roles of Telo in the film “Good Man / Njeriu i mire” (1982) and as Avni Rustemi in the film “A name among people” (1983), the films for which he won the Medallion of Festivals.
Among other films we can mention “Radio Station” 1979, “Brothers and Friends” (1979), “On the Threshold of Freedom” (1981), Days of My City – (1982)(TV); The Good Man – (1982) A Name Among People – (1983); Three Days in a Life – (1986), One Morning Phone – (1987); “In the name of freedom” (1987), “Mission beyond the sea” (1988), “Life in the hands of another” (1990), Little parents – (1991) (TV); “Deshperimisht” (2000), until the last film “Lettere al vento – Letra ne ere” (2003) in the role of Gon Doji.
During the 2000s, Bujar Asqeriu became more active in the Theater, and in some stand-out comedies: “Gomone” (2003); “Wooden plate” (2005); “Old Raft” (2005); “White Raven” (2008); View from the Bridge (2007); Filumena Marturano (2009) ; The Wrong Dinner (2011).
Bujar Asqeriu with his work has given precious values to the Albanian scenic and cinematographic art.
