Shpetim Zani | Photo gallery from the role of Coli in the movie “Debatik”!
Born in Tirana on August 23, 1947. He was an actor well known to everyone with the role of Coli in the film “Debatik”, the only role he performed throughout his life without having the luck to play some others.
It is also one of the rare cases where an actor is not the only one who performed only one role in his entire career and that of the protagonist.
As a “Tornitor” by profession, from time to time he would engage in amateur variety shows, a couple of times even in very episodic roles, and that’s it!
However, with the main role chosen by the director Hysen Hakani, he entered in the hearts and memories of the Albanian audience, remaining unforgettable and even managed to be identified as the Coli of Albanian cinema.
Who saw the film and was not touched, by that little orphaned, ragged boy, who, prematurely joined the children’s organization “DEBATIK” (United Boys of Communist Ideas), the title of the film dedicated to the activity patriot of this organization.
Coli, this little boy, is capable, even though he is very poor and always smiling, together with other children he helps with various tasks in the illegal movement against the fascist invaders until at the end of the film he sacrifices his life to save the teacher.
How painful and meaningful is the scene when uncle Lymi takes the body of the murdered Col in his hands.
The film itself was evaluated as the best presented in the retrospective of the Albanian film at the XV Festival in Gifone, Salerno, Italy in 1985, and was awarded with a special plaque given by the “Rotary Club” – Salerno.
Shpetim Zani passed away after a heart attack at his home on August 22, 2019.
