The content of the film:
Liberation found Albania in ignorance. Over 85% of the population was illiterate. Partisan brigade fighter, Dritan Shkaba, is tasked with opening schools in the villages of Mirdita, a mountainous province in northern Albania. The new teacher should, in addition to the pen, also hold the rifle. Armed reactionary gangs operate all around, making every effort to obstruct educational reform in the fight against illiteracy.
