Veronika Papa
Actress of “Skampa” Theater, Elbasan!
Born on August 22, 1947, in Elbasan. She graduated from the Higher Institute of Arts, in the department of drama, in 1969. Papa was then appointed an actress in the theater “Skampa” in the city where she was born and where she worked until she was retired.
Papa has about forty years of career in this institution, performing over 60 roles of different dimensions and natures.
The first main role in the theater was in the comedy “Sheqtesimet e Sokratit” with author-director Lec Shllaku, with which “Skampa” competed in the Fourth National Festival of Professional Theaters, from which Veronika and Robert Ndrenika were awarded diplomas.
She is known as a character actress and made a good name, especially in the reenactment of several roles in the shows: “Fisherman’s Family / Familja e peshkatarit”, (Sheja) “The Prefect / Prefekti”, (Hajria) “Ah this tractor driver / Traktoristja”, (Kristina), “Pomegranate flowers / Lulet e sheges” (Havaja), “Servant of 2 masters / Sherbetori i dy zoterive”, (Miss Silvia), “Many dry leaves that autumn / Sa shume gjethe te thata kete vjeshte”, (Mukadezi) with which the Skampa theater won the first place in the National Festival of Professional Theaters in 1989, “Qytet Rrethimi” (mome Mukadezi), “Death / Vdekja” (Prostitute), “American Lottery / Llotari Amerikane”, (Hurmaja) as well as “Lecture” (The Maid)”, “Tournament / Turneu”, “The future lies in eggs / E ardhmja qendron tek vezet”, etc.
In her play, features such as the inner sense of humor, the ability to self-disguise and satirize the character in the situation where he is placed, contradictions, the use of humorous retorts, characterizing plasticity find expression and compatibility.
V. Papa left Albania in 2002 to live in the USA.
Awards and titles: in 1985 she was awarded the “Naim Frasheri” medal given by the presidium of the People’s Assembly.
In 1997, in the comedy “Qytet Rrethimi”, with author-director Astrit Cerma, she was awarded the first prize “Aleksander Moisiu” for the role of Myrvete.
Currently Veronika Papa holds the title “Honor of the City of Elbasan”
