Syrja Meçe
Actor of the “AZ Cajupi” Theater in Korce and was simultaneously active in several films of Kinostudio.
He was born in 1944 in Kosovo, Permet in a large family with brothers and sisters. Mece completed his primary school in Kucove, while his 8th grade in Maliq, where he came into contact with professor Gaqo Veshi. Veshi activates him in all the shows organized by the school.
Later, Mece also participates in Maliqi’s circus, and then, in the period 1964-1967, was recruited as a soldier in the Ura-Vajgurore Aviation Department. Here he finds a good friend from Shkodra, Hasan Vejuka, who played together in the band’s Estrada.
It was the time when Syrja Mece began to dream of becoming an actor. After the end of the military service, he returns to Maliq of Korça. For almost 3 years in a row, he has been active in the Palace of Culture of this town and then in the professional theater of Korça.
Director M. Luarasi and actors Pandi Raidhi, Stavri Shkurti, Llazi Serbo gave him a great help to climb the stairs in the Korcar theater.
It will be precisely the famous director Mihallaq Luarasi who will choose his name from the Palace of Culture of Maliqi for the “A.Z Cajupi” Theater.
It was 1968.
Director M. Luarasi trusted him the role of Llambro, in the drama “Mining People”, which was written by himself. It will be Mece`s first performance and he will perform together with big names such as Pandi Raidhi, Dhimitër Trajçe, Vangjush Furxhi, etc.
Of course, this was a dream from which you could not wake up.
Another role that was entrusted to the actor was that of Dritëro Agolli’s “White Age / Moshe e bardhe”. He had the role of an engineer.
Mece performs again with actors such as Llazi Serbo, Minella Borova, Zhani Zicishti and Dhorkë Orgocka. The latter would play the role of Madam Hihi.
On the stage of this theater, the actor will perform many roles, among which we can mention the one in “The wind of the heights / Era e lartesive” by N. Dokle, alongside the great actress Dhimitra Plasari, in the role of her lover Bardhoshi; The drama was staged by the famous director and actor Dhimitër Orgocka. It was a drama that was quite successful and Syrja Mece gave the name of the character. Only then would he feel that he could play alongside big-name actors.
After this drama, it continues with the drama of Skënder Luaras1, “Storm in April / Stuhi ne Prill”, and even further to “Othello”, “Tartufi”, “Last night / Nata e fundit”, “The sons of B. Gora / Djemte e Bato Gores”, “My beauty / E bukura ime”, “Rain in Beach / Shi ne plazh”, where he plays the role of Çome, while he had a partner, the unforgettable Dhorkë Orgocka.
That all these performances are staged by Dh. Orgocka. Then Mece would also get the role of Dane Brinja in the drama “Maro Mokra”, for which his misunderstood mother was afraid that her son wanted to become a ballist. Ballisti wants to kill Maro, but he can’t, on the contrary, he ends up with the pistol pointed by the old heroine of this drama, hiding behind a small child so as not to be killed: “Hey Dane Brinja, oh Dane Brinja!!! Now you’re hiding behind a child’s panties / Dane Brinja qe fshihesh pas brekeve te nje femije” – says Maro, a role masterfully interpreted by the famous actress Dhorke Orgocka.
The actor Syrja Mece performs in many classical and Albanian parts, but in “Kopraci” you can see the true power of the actor. The role of Harpagon was of course played by Koço Qendro, while Syrja Mece played the role of Arrow.
After 90, it will be one of the last performances for the actor with the Korcar theater, in the “Accused City”.
