Aleko Prodani

Prominent comedy actor. They say that every actor’s dream is to die on stage. If this is true, it can be said that Aleko Prodani realized this dream. He passed away on the stage of the “AZ Çajupi” theater, while playing in the newest premiere of this theater.
Prodani was born on May 19, 1942. In 1956, completed the pedagogic school also a teacher in the village of Moglice. In 1956, started working with the amateur theater group of Maliqi. After that, in 1961, worked for about 6 years in “Estrade of Soldier” to return recently with the Estrade troupe of Korce, asserting himself as an outstanding actor with an unparalleled artistic profile and especially in relation to the partner.
An actor with a good vocal talent as a completist and parodist. He has incarnated hundreds of roles, for more than 40 years, Prodani was one of the biggest stars of the Albanian theater, outstanding especially in the comedy genre, in the short genres of humor, parody sketches, dialogues, monologues, pantomimes. Masterfully performs the role of Zylo Kamberi in a variety show with Estrade of Korce as well as in a television series.
In 1978, he won the “Best Actor” Award at the Variety Festival in Gjirokaster, as well as at the one in Tirana in 1994.
Due to his “bad biography” he was removed from Estrada, after the IV Plenum and sent for “re-education” in production in hard physical work. After returning to Estrada, a golden period begins for him.
Performs in about 60 premieres with this troupe, where he stands out for his rare skills in all genres. For 15 years (1980 – 1995) he became the key man of this troupe. He is the author of librettos, director and main actor in 30 premieres, dozens of humorous pieces and one-act comedies that are also shown in TVSH in the New Year Eve programs.
Under the leadership of Prodani, in the 80s, Estrada of Korça became the best in the country. In addition to the roles in Estrade, Prodani also play the role of the matchmaker Sofo in Teodor Laco’s comedy “A bride for Stasi”.
In 2001, he performed the role of Thimaq with a rare master in the comedy “39-year-old lady” by Saqellaris. His rare qualities are also in demand at the “AZ Çajupi” Theater, where he performs about 20 comedy roles.
After the successes in the theater, he achieved more in cinematography, where he performed in three film comedies, as well as TV, where Aleko performed in a series of shows and tele comedies, among which we can mention “Borxhliu” (1999); “Dashuri me krisma” etc.
With the role of Dhori in the comedy “O deputet o genjeshtar” by Dhimiter Psathai, that of Quixote in “Thieves go to the Dp” by Dario Foe, as well as Andrea in the comedy “Hypocrites”, he won the award for the actor three times in a row, in three participations non-protagonist in the Fier Acting Festival, in the 2003, 2004 and 2005 editions.
Aleko Prodani was one of the Albanian comedians with a clear and unique individuality, elegant in his humor. He make full use of the comic situation where the character was.
Prodani took part in two feature films such as “Twice check mate” (1986) and “The Sostitute of Women” (1987).
Aleko passed away on stage on May 2, 2006, performing the role of Aldo in the comedy “Three men for one woman” by Dario Fo.
He has been honored since 1992 with the title “Honored Artist”!
