Even during the second world war, she performed in many films, including "Stasera niente di nuovo (1942), whose song became a leitmotif of Italian music in the 40s – "Ma l`amore no", and also in the other film "Noi Vivi / Addio Kira" (1943) based on the Ayn Rand novel with the English title "We the Living". These two films were censored during the government under Benito Mussolini. At the age of 20, she caught the eye and was called the most beautiful female actress in the world. In Hollywood, she performed in many American films, where we can distinguish the two most successful ones, The Paradine Case (1947), The Third Man (1949). It should be mentioned that her international film career has not been so famous as a result of the financial problems presented by the film production company "Selznick". In the 50s, she returned to Europe and performed in many French and Italian films. In 1954, he had a great success in the melodrama Senso, directed by Luchino Visconti. In 1959, he appeared in "Les Yeux sans visage" (Eyes Without a Face) in a horror film directed by Georges Franju. In the 60s, he worked in several other films with even bigger directors, such as Pier Paolo Pasolini in "Oedipus the King" 1967; Bernardo Bertolucci – La strategia del ragno 1972; Novecento, 1976, and Dario Argento in Suspiria, 1977. However, her last film in the cinema is in 2002 "Semana Santa" with Mira Sorvino. In Italy, she was also well known in the interpretation of Ibsen's works "Rosmersholm"; Pirandello's "Henry IV"; John Osborne's "Epitaph for George Dillon"; and Arthur Miller's "A View from the Bridge". At the 54th international film festival in Venice in 2007, Alida Valli won (posthumously) the Golden Lion for her career. He changed his life on April 12, 2006 in Rome, Italy at the age of 84!!
