Dhimitra Mele, well-known actress of the “AZ Cajupi” Theater, Korce, and at the same time was active in several Albanian films of Kinostudio & TVSH.

However, information is lacking for this group of actresses who continue to remain “under the censorship” of time, in the “dust” of oblivion.

She was born in the city of Korce on March 26, 1926, and from an early age,
16-17 years old, she entered the path of art, that of the Korca`s theater. She stood out in the interpretation of roles on the stage of this theater where we can single out the role of Marga in the operetta “Together, life is a song”, in the role of Tringa in the operetta “Dawn”, in the role of Teto Keto in the operetta, “Golden Valley” “.

The impression would also be left with the role of the mother in “Lulja e Kujtimit”, revealing to the audience a true korcars mother. Dhimitra Mele at that time was a talented and adored by everyone. She could sing beautifully, she played the guitar, she was a lady, both in the theater and on stage. It was equally enjoyable in operettas and parodies. Thus, she would stand out in other roles, such as in Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night”, with the role of the princess, Olivia. Olivia was a beautiful girl, just like Dhimitra, she was adored by everyone, just like Dhimitra was adored. She was a pleasant girl, just like Dhimitra himself.

It would be so wonderful in the role of Mrs. Lipari in “View from the Bridge”, in the role of Alisa in “Deep Roots”, in the role of Zina Vasilievna in “The Honor of the Family”, in the role of the Turtledove in “For the Protection of the homeland” etc. One cannot forget the role of Lonevica in the drama “The Swamp”, where Dhimitra played the role of an old volunteer who participated in draining the swamp.

The Korca actress had another skill, telling jokes, which left an indescribable effect on the spectators of the generation that followed her in Korca. Such were her jokes in the skit “Am I alive or am I dead”. When they told him to go to the show. (of course, without leaving the theater) she welcomed him with great pleasure regardless of the opinion at the time that only the theater was for accomplished actresses.

On the contrary, she was also excelled in variety shows. As far as cinematography is concerned, she was also active in two or three films of Kinostudio and RTSH television, such as: “The Bronx Bust” – 1970 / “Lady from the city” – 1976 / “Who died on Foot” – 1984 / ” The Unforgotten” – 1984.

She remained a profile actress of the Korce theater and variety show. The Korcar actress never married, so she remained connected to the theater scene until the end of her life. In 1979 she was awarded the title of “Honored Artist”.

She passed away at the age of 78 on October 7, 2004.

The exclusivity on this page is dated June 8, 2022
