Esma Agolli (1928-2010) One of the actresses of the initial generation of Albanian theater and cinematography. He was born on July 1, 1928 in Tirana. She was one of the most popular actresses of Albanian theater and cinematography, especially for character roles. It is an honor for the pioneers of the scene, belonging to the initiative generation, the golden generation alongside: S. Prosit, T. Kurti, N. Frasherit, K. Roshit, D. Pelingut, V. Manushit, S. Pitarkes, L. Kovacit, P Gjokes, I Shyt, etc. At a young age, during the National Liberation War, he became active in the theater movement, such as in the comedy "Qazim Mulleti" and in the play Sabaudin Gabrani (1942) by Besim Levonje, in another play by Aleksander Banushi "Death to Fascism". A photogenic actress, from the appearance but also with a lot of talent, an actress with temperament and dynamic, pure voice, passionate and excellent and well-known by the Albanian public both in the theater and in the cinematography. In 1945, he graduated from the Pedagogical School. three years later, director Pandi Stillu activates her as an actress in the People's Theater in B. Lavrenjev's drama "Per ata qe jane ne det" in the role of Stabine, precisely in 1948, the year of her deputation as a professional actress. After this role, she will be joined by many other roles, about 60 of them, placing Esma Agolli in a well-deserved place in the Theater Popular being among its first female actresses. In the Theater we can mention the role of Mel in "Deep Roots" (1949); Majlinda in Xhemal Broje's Majlinda; Masha in Kremlin Hours (1957); the role of Mirandolina in The Lady of the Inn, or in the play The Merry Wives of Windsor, in Shakespeare's masterpiece King Lear, as and in Albanian works such as "The General of the Dead Army" by Ismail Kadare, directed by Pirro Mani, "Cuca e Maleve", or the lady in the comedy "The Prefect", etc. In 1964, he graduated from the "Jordan Misja" Artistic High School. In 1962, she performed one of the most successful roles in her career, that of Mirandolina in Goldoni's "Lady of the Inn", a comedy in which she presented full acting skills, temperament, dexterity, sense of humor and intuition. In the role of Sheje in "The Fisherman's Family" by S. Pitarkes, I create a painful figure, emphasizing the psychological plans, while the role of Buda in the drama "Pomegranate Flowers" by K. Jakove was in a different direction, they gave him more mostly through satirical, nervous and impetuous notes. Other roles in the theater: Short in "Dutyra"; Office in "Old Man of the Mountains"; Aferdita in the drama "Student of the last year"; Figueredo's "Fox and Grapes". In 2004, at an advanced age, he brought the character of Sam to the stage in Ruzhdi Pulaha's "Shelter of the Forgotten". Esma Agolli is an actress of the dramatic genre, but she is also classified as psychological and lyrical. In cinematography, she has often been seen in films in the roles of heavy "bourgeois" ladies and several times in the interpretation of reactionary and agentive figures. The most prominent are "The Guest" in 1979, Mrs. Neriman in the film "Beyond the Stone Walls" in 1979. In other films: "Her Children" in 1957, "Tana" (1958); "White papers" (1990) etc. Esma Agolli holds the title of "Honored Artist".
