Fehmi Oshafi (1934-2020)
Albanian film director!
Oshafi was born in Tirana on September 28, 1934. He started working in cinematography as an assistant to veteran directors Hakani and Dhamo, in their films “Our Land” (1964); “The Early Years”, (1965); “Rumble on the Coast”, (1967); “The Trail”, (1970).
In 1968, he produced the show “Estrada on the Screen” himself, which was shot by Kinostudio in the form of a feature film. Due to the success of this film, he was later entrusted, in 1972, with the direction of the much-loved film comedy “Kapedani”, which he made together with director Muharrem Fejzo.
This film marks the birth of film comedy in Albanian cinematography, which was later followed by other film comedies equally loved by director Hoshafi: “Dream of a Chair”, (1984) and “Women’s Deputy”, (1987).
In the period from 1976 to 1990, he made other feature films and documentaries, among which the film “Our Friend Tili” was awarded a prize at the International Festival for Children and Young People, at Giffoni, in Salerno, Italy.
Passed away on January 14, 2020.
