Gjergji Lala
Actor, director. “Mihal Grameno” of our Cinema for the role performed in the film “Death or Liberty”, Gjergj Lala, well-known actor and director not only on the Albanian scene but also on the international scene. Our “ambassador” of performing arts in Italy.
Lala was born in Lushnje on December 6, 1947. Graduated from ILA – High Institute of Arts in 1975, well-known as a performer in a large number of roles and characters in cinema, theater and television.
Of course, among his most important roles for Albanian cinema remains that of Mihal Grameno in the film “Death or Liberty” in 1979, a role for which he received the award as the best co-protagonist (with T. Flloko) in 1981 in the 4th Artistic Film Festival in Tirana.
On the screen of the Albanian film Lala debuts in 1976 in the movie “Bloody Earth” in the role of Xhem, the son of Mr. Maks. Then there is an episodic role in the film “The Bride and curfew (1978) to come to the most popular role for the actor of Mihal Grameno, as we mentioned above.
He worked as an actor and director in the “Bylis” Theater in Fier from 1988 to 1992. Even with the staff of the Theater and Comedy of the city of Lushnja, he has managed to stage a series of national and international works.
Since 1992, he has been living in Italy, where he has successfully acted in various films and telefilms. Here in the international arena he is successfully active, for example in the role of the Soviet ambassador in “Il papa buono” (2003) (directed by the well-known Ricky Tognazzi, the son of the great Ugo). Then he has another role in “L’ Orizzonte degli Eventi” (2005) by the director Daniele Vicari.
Lala also performed in the 7th season of the TV series “La squadra” (2006), in the famous “Don Matteo 5″ (2006), in the movie ” L’uomo della carità – Don Luigi Di Liegro (directed by Alessandro Di Robilant) in “Medicina Generale” (2016) “Il sapore del sale”.
Artist Lala is awarded the title “The Golden Naim Frasheri” for the interpretations of the golden level and the contribution given in Albanian Cinema, Theater and Television.
Gjergji Lala is considered one of the best actors of the golden generation of the Albanian scene.
