Guljelm Radoja (1945-2021)
Well-known actor, a great artist who does not need a long introduction and epithets, as he is confirmed as one of those actors who shine in the golden generation of the generation that gave name to the Albanian scene both in the film and in the theater with his interpretations and contribution, so he deservedly held the title “Merited Artist” !

Born in Shkoder on July 2, 1945. After finishing high school, he continued his studies at the High Institute of Arts (today as the Academy of Arts for Dramaturgy) during the years 1963-67.

In 1967, Radoja worked for one year in Librazhd and then three years as a director in the professional Estrade in Fier.

In 1971, Guljelm Radoja appeared as an accomplished actor in the “Aleksandër Mojsiu” Theater in Durrës, and precisely here he became more well-known and popular throughout the Albanian public. It will stay in this theater until 1991 for full 20 years in the ranks of this troupe performing about 60 roles.

Since 1996, he is an actor of the National Theater, as well as an acting teacher at the High Academy of Arts. In the Theater, both from Albanian and international dramaturgy, he has played many positive characters, creating a model of his style that was liked by the arte lovers audience.

For example, the roles of Victor in the drama “Vranesire e shkurter” by Teodor Lacos in the Durres Theater as well as the teledrama “Dorina”. In 1988, Shiku Mangen will perform in “Peshperitje ne shtpine e Matildes”, in the year 1994 plays Estragon in Beckett’s masterpiece “Duke pritur Godone”. In this show, together with the other famous actor Agim Qirjaqi (Vladimir), they created a duo full of charm that attracted the attention of the general public.

Then Radoja continued in other roles, such as in the drama “Rhinoceronti” by E. Joneskeos, in the lyrical comedy “Ylli pa emer”, in another comedy “Cilindri” by E. De Filipos, Andrea in the drama “Shelter of the Forgotten” by R. Pulahes, plays the guard in “Leaf”, Horster in “Enemy of the People”, Professor in “Night of Knocks on the Glass”, “Flea in the Ear” etc.

Actor Guljelm Radoja has become beloved by the public, especially in cinema, with about 35 roles performed. He will appear for the first time on the television screen in the film “Trace” (1970).

He stands out in the role of the photographer in the film “War Path” (1974), going from here to a successful career.

Other roles can be mentioned as that of liutenent Gurabardhi in “At the beginning of summer” (1975). He plays with great mastery and an elegant acting the character of a cunning ideologue of Vekiu, a fascist entrepreneur in the film “General gramafoni” (1978);

In 1979, he performed another role that will be long remembered in our Cinematography, one of the warmest characters, that of the patriot with rifle and pen, Stefan Bardhi in “Mesonjetorja”, a film in which he was awarded.

Among the most prominent roles for the actor is that of Petro Nini Luarasi in “Kush vdese ne kembe” in 1984, for which he was awarded the Medallion of the Albanian Film Festival. He has also achieved high levels of acting in other films such as Luciano in “Decision” (1984), Mark in “Flutura ne kabinen time” (1988) and the priest in “The Return of the Dead Army” (1989).

Deservedly held the title “Merited Artist”
Radoja passed away after a long battle with Covid-19 on May 5, 2021.
