Diana Diamanti (1948-1994)
Albanian film operator. When her name is mentioned, her colleagues fondly remember an artist who, before becoming a pioneer of animated films, had served in the field of feature films as an operator.
Born in Vlore on July 15, 1948. Completed his last year of high school in Gjirokaster. Diana did his language-literature studies in Tirana remotely. She has also completed a qualification course for operator at Kinostudio “Shqiperia e Re”.
The younger sister, the actress Elvira Diamanti, remembers:
“We were born four sisters in Tirana. We lived in a private house near the New Market and the Center of Tirana. I remember a neighborhood with large fields. I remember children playing in those spaces. Both of our parents worked in the administration. We grew up with our parents, but we had a happy childhood. I remember Diana was a beautiful woman, with long braids and an elegant body, I remember her in a blouse and pants.
Growing up, each of the sisters told her about the strangest stories has heard Diana. She was the age of each of us. This atmosphere of love has been the happiness for us in those years. I am sorry that we have not been able to give this atmosphere to any of our children. ”

In 1969, Diamanti started working as an assistant operator with the most famous artists in this variety.
Together with Sonja Mamaqi, they became the first female operators in Albania, after the departure of Mrs. Mamaqi, she remained the only one.
She had her first beginnings on the set as an actress in some short film sequences, such as “Ngadhenjim mbi vdekjen”; “Ambush” or “Difficult start”.
From here on, for 27 years, she devoted herself to work as an operator for animated films. documentary and chronicle.
From the documentaries we can mention:
“Valbona” – 1976; “Folk medicine” – 1977; “Happy holiday” – 1978, etc.
Then also the cartoons where 35 of which were realized as a cameraman “Erinda and the doll” – 1979; “Scarecrow” – 1980; “Fox and Hedgehog” – 1981; “Ah, bunny, bunny” – 1982; “Young Omer” – 1983; “When the feathers fall” – 1985; “Skin of a lion” – 1989; “Riquelme” – 1992, while “Magic Rose” – 1993 was her last film.
Diana worked as an assistant operator in the films: “Guximtaret” – 1970; “Kapedani” – 1972; “Brazdat” – 1973; “Mimoza llastica” – 1973; “Operacioni Zjarri” – 1973, being alongside the main directors of Albanian cinema, Kristaq Dhamo, Gezim Erebara, Muharrem Fejzo.
Diana Diamanti passed away in 1994 from a serious illness.
Her camera is characterized as lyrical and poetic with diverse perspectives. She often moved with comic and humorous elements, using a wide range of colors, an ideofigurative composition.
