Spiro Metalino (1917-1989) Officer, producer and director of the film at Kinostudio "New Albania" For some former directors who had the great fortune to work at Kinostudio, and who have started to claim the Albanian film as their own, (by tried to block them for personal gain on YouTube) they should first of all remember this name as well as other names of Kinostudio producers, call to mind, refresh the memory of who the late Spiro Metalino was, what his duties were in Kinostudio regarding the state / public authorship of Kinostudio's films! Honor and respect! He was born in Greece on July 15, 1917 with Greek nationality and dual citizenship, Greek-Albanian. We are quite used to reading his name in the subtitles of some Albanian films of Kinostudio as the director or producer of Kinostudio. During the Anti-Fascist War, he took part with a gun in his hand and crossed into the Albanian lands, lining up with our partisan forces, where he fought until the complete liberation of Albania. After his release, he continued as an officer in the ranks of the Albanian armed forces and was forbidden by the Greek authorities to return to Greece, to his homeland where he was born. That's how he stayed away from his family all his life. In Albania, he received the rank of "Major". In 1970, he was demobilized from the army and started working at the Kinostudio "Shqiperia e Re" in the film production department. He directed the filming of many documentary films. In 1965, he worked as a sub-director in the feature films "Vite e e" and "Commissioner of Light" (1966), "Guerrilla Unit" (1969), "Perse bie kjo daulle" (1969). Meanwhile, from 1971 he started as a film director and producer in the films: "When it dawned a day" (1971); "Mountains with covered purchase" (1971), "Conscience" (1972); "Looking for the five-year-old" (1974); "The Happy Couple" (1975); "The bride and curfew" (1978) co-authored with Beniamin Lazrin; "Footprints in blue" (1981). After that year, he moved to the production branch, until he retired in 1983. He changed his life in Tirana in 1989, when he had just been able to meet his mother, from whom he had been separated since the time of the war. _____________ Albanian cinematography in activity since 2013 Reference: Encyclopedia of Albanian Cinematography – Toena 2002 / A.
