He was born in Tirana on October 2, 1948. Completed his higher studies in 1972 at ILA in the department of dramaturgy. In the time period 1972-1975, Sela worked as a director at TVSH, where he was then transferred to the “Bylis” theater in Fier, where he worked as an actor near this theater until the mid-90s, precisely 1995.

On the stage of ” Bylis” is a period of time when the actor asserts himself by becoming one of the most prominent of this theater. Sela interprets with professionalism almost all the main roles of the performances on stage by this theater troupe, whether they are from our Albanian dramaturgy or from the foreign one. From our dramaturgy we can single out: Seriani in “The Dream of that Winter” by Teodor Laco; “Ballad for a woman”; “The second face” of Dritero Agolli; “The beautiful old house” of Ruzhdi Pulaha.

From the foreign dramaturgy, the roles in the plays can be distinguished: “A lost letter”; “Maria October”; “The other’s head”; “Love with ghosts” etc.

He has been awarded many prizes in Theater Festivals. In the role of Avni Rustemi in the drama “Two shoots in Paris” by P. Kulla, he creates a gracious, noble and courageous figure of our hero. The dramatic monologue of the defense before the trial, the accusatory tones, and the high pathos were adapted to the now sublimated popular image of Avni Rustemi himself; With this role, he was awarded the “Republic Award”.

The role of John Proctor in the drama “Witches of Salem” is another achievement in his acting experience while working at the “Bylis” theater in Fier.

In 1995, Fatos continued his acting career in the troupe of the National Theater, where he performed many roles on the stage of this theater, and even the main one, from which we can mention “The Great Magic”, the first role in TK; Zoto in the comedy “Paradise is on the second floor”; “Tyrannosaurus”; Captain Perela in “Virtue Man and Animal”; “Seagull” as well as other roles in the plays: “Flea in the Ear”; “Portrait of Dorian Gray”; “Rainfalls”; “Shadows of the night”; “Shelter of the forgotten”;

He dramatically interpreted the role of Dr. Stockman in Ibsen’s “Enemy of the People” (1999), conveying in the hall the message of stability and moral integrity, the strength of indomitable will and the courage to oppose the corrupt society. His acting has also appeared in private productions such as the role of Vah Pengu in the drama “Forget me” by A. Kumbaro in 2000, “Anonymity of Venice” from the company “The Blue Prince” (2002).

In 2006, he played the role of Voinicki in the drama “Uncle Vanja” by AP Cekhov. He insist on interweaving the character’s silent nature with desperation and violent outbursts in the finale. Frank V in the homonymous tragicomedy by F. Durrenmatt (2008) brought to Fatos Sela’s interpretation a thoughtful twisting of the planes of grotesque and sarcastic drama.

He also performed in several feature films, starting in v. 1977 in “The Coats Over the Barbed Wire” in the role of Captain Hodo and later, other roles such as in “Our Common Home”; “Second of November”; “The Trap” etc.

In 1989, he was honored with the title “Merited Artist”.

The actor Fatos Sela was noted for his sonorous voice, baritone, for his physical gifts that he had a tendency to play heroes, leaders, professors, government officials, people with expressed individuality.

He passed away on December 18, 2013.
