Skender Cala
Director, actor, singer. “Great Master”
Born in Diber on June 7, 1939. An artist in the full sense. He is the founder of the Professional Theater of Peshkopia, where he has successfully staged dozens of premieres as a director and actor.
The great love for art has been able to overcome all difficulties and spread this passion widely, contributing to the organization of the artistic life of the Dibra district as a director, singer, presenter, publicist and in the creation of various concerts.
The artist Skender Cala has given of himself everything an artist can give: time, effort, dedication, passion, talent to enable the enjoyment of true art as well as to make it possible for this form of artistic expression to be enjoyed and affect everyone’s social life.
Skënder Cala’s values go beyond the contribution of Albanian art. Above all, he contributed to the discovery of young artists, who prepared them by giving a lot of himself, so that they were prepared to compete in the Albanian art scene and beyond.
The list of performances includes over 100 premieres of the professional variety shows of directors Tef Krroqi and Inajet Shehu, of which 20 premieres are directed by S.Cala.
Outside of this list are over 50 premieres of the amateur movement of the city and the countryside. Their humorous and colorful shows enlivened the life of a city and a district poor in wealth but great in its artistic and human spirit in those years.
Even in cinematography, he made a valuable contribution by performing alongside the greats such as Sandër Prosi, Marie Logoreci, Stavri Shkurti, Rajmonda Bulku, etc., in the films of the former Kinostudio “Shqiperia e Re”, “Skënderbeu”, “Ceta e Vogël”, “Whiteness”, “Coping”, “Threat”, etc.
