Ilir Martini
Scenographer, teacher
Born on February 7, 1958, in Tirana. After graduating from the artistic lyceum “Jordan Misja” for painting, started working as a painter at the Opera and Ballet Theater and then as a design painter at the National Historical Museum and the “Gjergj Kastrioti” Museum in Kruje.
1982-1986 he continued his higher studies at the High Institute of Arts, majoring in scenography, and then Martini was appointed a scenography lecturer at this institute.
In 2001, he won the title “Associate Professor”. Martini has realized the scenography and costume design of many theaters shows, among them: “Ne jete” by Dh. Xhuvanit (1984, with which he won the first prize), “Servant of two masters” by Goldoni (1985), “Comedian on the mountain” (1985), “Comedy of misunderstandings” by Shakespeare (1988), “Broken cross” by B. Breht (1989), “Desperation in Matilda’s House” (1990), “The Bald Singer” by Ionesco (1998), The Glass Menagerie” by Tennessee Williams (2001), Who steal a leg is lucky in love” by Dario Fo (2002), “Ionesco’s Lecture” (2002), “Love, peace, money” by M. Pirandello and Chekhov (2003), “Thieves flee in the direction of DP” of Dh. Psathas (2004), “Brotherhood and interest” by Kristo Floqi (2005), “An angel on the 2nd floor” by S. Capaliku (2006), “The prisoner of the 5th floor” by Nil Saimon (2007).
Martini has also created several scenography’s for musical, folklore or television events.
He published the album “School of Scenography and Costume Design” (1997), as well as World Costume Design”.
