Zhani Petro – Ziçishti!
Well-known actor of the Theater “AZ Cajupi”, Korce and of course also of the Albanian Cinematography.

Zhani Petro (or as he is known by his other surname Ziçishti) was born on May 31, 1940, in the city of Korça. In 1964, finished his studies at the “Aleksander Moisiu” high school for actor, in 1964, and the same year he started working as an actor at the “A.Z Çajupi” Theater in Korça until 1994, the year he emigrated to Greece.

With the troupe of this theater, he will perform a series of roles, becoming known to the art-loving public, especially those who were lucky enough to follow him in several performances where he left his mark on theatrical art.

There are about 70 on the stage of this theater, many of them main and important. Ground with his generation, he brings a new way of interpretation, distinguishing the truth in acting, naturalness, soft and psychological tones, the accuracy of the character’s intentions.

Here we can mention the shows: “Dowry Girl”; “The white circle”; “The house in the alley”; “Teacher of literature”; “The accused city”; “Angels of the Hell”; “Opera for three “grosh”; “Stinginess”; “Othello” etc.

An actor with an aristocratic appearance, his acting skills full of finesse in acting made his debut in 1975 on the film “River lights” in the role of the teacher Agroni and in the same year in two other films, that of the father in the children’s film “Beni walks by himslef” and in “The alleys that sought the sun”.

Zhani Petro will perform 16 roles in Kinostudio feature films during the period 1975 – 1990. After the 90s, he emigrated abroad to neighboring Greece. Since then, it seems as if they have left him completely forgotten, like some other actors of that generation. However, in October 2010, the municipal council of the city of Korce approves and gives the title “Emblem of Art” to a group of Korca`s actors (Sotiraq Bratko, Marko Bitraku, Spanja Pipa, Mysret Frasheri, Klaudeta Riza, Roland Karanxha, Koco Qendro, Perika Gjezi (postmortem), Valentina Caci, Ligoraq Riza, Dhimitra Plasari) among them the actor Zhani Petro, with the motivation: For a special contribution to the development of Art and the revitalization of cultural and artistic life in the city of Korce.
