Valter Gjoni (1954-2020)
Actor, journalist, researcher
Born on October 4, 1954, in Tirana, educated at the pre-university level, in his hometown. He completed his university studies at the Academy of Arts in the branch of dramatic art in 1978 and in this year, he started working as an actor and director in the Army Artistic Troupe, then in the National Theatre.
His activity also expanded with the activation of the “Shqiperia e Re” cinema studio and the Albanian Radio Television. In his artistic career, he has about 60 roles in theater and variety shows. Also, Gjoni has made 5 documentary films and several roles in Albanian cinema studio films, among which we can mention: “On the verge of freedom” – 1981/ “When the doors of life open” – 1985/ “A long year” – 1987 / “The weight of time” – 1988 / “The investigation continues” – 1988.

In 1987, in addition to post-graduate studies for a first-level scientific title, he also completed specialization studies in the field of journalism, at the Faculty of Political and Legal Sciences (on the basis of current legislation, it was converted to the level of Master of Science in Journalism). 
At the same time, he also completed qualifications in several countries such as France, Holland, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Greece, etc. being a nominated member of several international organizations. Among other things, he is the author of many cultural, artistic, problematic, informative and historical articles in newspapers, magazines, television shows and special publications. After an intensive work experience in the art and media institutions of Tirana, in 1991 and following, he was appointed to the Municipality of Tirana, where he fulfilled a number of tasks, as the head of the sectors related to art, culture, the city’s ceremonial and international relations.
Interweaving his administrative, journalistic and artistic experience outside of his official functions, the author has realized about 20 exhibitions and 8 thematic publications on historical, cultural and human values, mainly for Tirana.
Valter Gjoni holds several national and international honorary titles, where the highest title is the “Knight of the Order” of Merit of the French Republic and the “Naim Frashëri” Order of the Republic of Albania and the “Recognition of the City of Tirana”. Passed away on November 14, 2020.
