Koço Tollko (1929-2003)
Sound operator of Kinostudio’s documentary and feature films.
Born in Dardhe in Korce on June 1st, 1929. He attended technical high school in Tirana in the construction department, but before he went to the Soviet Union for a two-year specialization course for a sound operator, near the Central Studio of Documentary Films in Moscow.
Participated in the first group of 6 trainees: E. Keko / Xh. Cipi / J. Nano / P. Lubonja / M. Carka who started work near the Kinostudio “Shqiperia e Re” immediately for its establishment.
He was the first sound operator who recorded the first Kinostudio chronicles. There is a special merit in the establishment of this department and the preparation of a number of cadres in this sector.
He is the voice operator of hundreds of newsreel, documentary and documentary films. Also, he is the author of the soundtrack of about 30 artistic films, starting with the film “Debatik” – 1961.
Among the main films where Tollko worked as a sound operator are: “Our Land / Toka e jone” – 1964; “Commissar of light / Komisari i drites” – 1966; “Open Horizons / Horizonte te hapura” – 1968; “Echoe on the coast / Oshetime ne bregdet” – 1969; “The Braves / Guximtaret” – 1970; “The Trace / Gjurma” and “Mountains clad in green / Malet me blerim mbuluar” – 1971; “Uprising in the palace / Kryengritje ne pallat” – 1972;
“Looking for the 5 hours shift / Duke kerkuar 5 oreshin” – 1974; “The Happy Couple / Cifti i lumtur” -1975; “Threads that are cut / Fije qe priten” -1976; “Sounds of war / Tingujt e luftes” – 1976; “Coats over the wire fence / Gunat permbi tela” – 1977; “My wedding toast / Dollia e dasmes time” -1978; “Spring in Gjirokaster / Pranvere ne Gjirokaster” and “Beyond the stone walls / Pas mureve prej guri” – 1979; “The Threat / Kercenimi” -1981;
“The Treasure / Thesari” – 1981; “The end of a blood feud / Fundi i nje gjakmarrje” – 1983; “Footprints in the snow / Gjurme ne debore” – 1984; “Don’t be silent / Te mos heshtesh” -1985; “When you are separated from your friends / Kur ndahesh nga shoket” – 1986; “In the name of freedom / Ne emer te lirise” – 1987; “Shpresa” and “Three people cross the mountain / Tre njerez kapercejne malin” -1988!
After the 90s, he emigrated with his family to the USA, where he will pass away on September 4, 2003.
