Since 1949, he has been a member of the theater group that founded Radio Tirana. He later played roles in the comedy genre where he also took part in the capital's Estrade and was a member of the People's Theater troupe. While for most of the time of his career on stage, he has been associated with the puppet theater of the capital, the place where he has worked for the longest time, about 40 years, since 1951, giving a great help. About 160 performances of Zija Grabsh are recorded in the Puppet Theater, mainly leading roles with which he became beloved by that generation of children. Here we can remember the role of Shvejk (1957), that of Ivan the Great (1959), and especially the role of Father Viti in the homonymous part of Violeta Kongo (1987). His special voice with a characteristic timbre, imitating skills, care to be as natural as possible, as well as a sense of authenticity in the relationship with partners, have been some of his most pronounced interpretive qualities in the creation of animal figures, especially to the bear. Both in the Puppet Theater and in that of Estrade, he has always performed roles with a positive attitude, elderly people, wise grandparents, counselors, and lovers. Likewise, he has been a lecturer at the High Institute of Arts for several years, starting from 1967. In addition to working as an actor, he has staged about 20 projects at the National Puppet Theater as a director. He has also played as an actor in several feature films of Kinostudio, although secondary or episodic roles.
