Veteran actor of the Albanian theater and cinematography

He was born in Durres on September 15, 1919. He became active early on with the Amateur Theater Movement in Durres. In addition to male roles, he also performed female roles in the 1930s due to the lack of female actresses, such as Olimbia in F. Postoli’s “Flower of Memory”, Dia in “Poor Boy”, and even the role of the queen in ” Karlo Topia” by K. Floqi. Having an exceptional acting ability with amateur groups in the House of Culture of Durres, he caught the eye and after a competition in v. 1948 he was accepted among the professional staff of the People’s Theatre.

He remains the actor with the longest life span in the Theater. In Tirana, he will complete another qualification course of acting in the studios that were established at that time. His first role on the stage of this theater is the role of Celuhov in the play “Governor of the Province” in 1949.

His acting activity at the “People’s Theater” will last for 40 years. He has performed about 100 main secondary and episodic roles. It stands out in the portrayal of the types of characters that mostly came from the civic and intellectual classes, educated people, aristocrats, high and cynical officials, as well as military officers from the occupying forces, ironic and temperamental men, old people, old men etc. all these features were seen in the plays:

Simplin in “The Merry Wives of Windsor”, Stasin in “A Bride for Stasi”, Rastakofski “The Auditor”, Montani “Othello”, Murashi “Our Land”, Rusakov “In the Lilac Garden “, Kazanoku “Cremlin Clocks”, Ymeri “Seven Shalians”, Shpend Hekakeqi “Great Faith”, “The Governor of the Province”, “The Upheaval, The Strange”, “Over the ruins”, ” Hamlet”, “King Lear”, “A lost letter”, “Doctor Alexi”, “Cuca of Montains”, “Dead river”, “Arturo Ui”, “Communists”, “Waltz of the Titanic” etc. Debuted on the screen in the film “Tana” in 1958. He performed professionally in several other artistic films where he stands out in “Debatik” (1961) in the role of Quaestor; “Special Task” (1963); “Our Land” (1964); “First Years” (1965) “Guerrilla Unit” Italian officer; “Conscience” (1972) prosecutor; “The Guest” the foreign agent;

Vlashi has performed with hundreds of characters on “Radio Tirana”, “Artistic Speech on the Microphone” or “Dramatization on the Radio”. His acting has been noticed for the elegance of his stage expression, for his physical grace, his unflinching eye, calmness and security in the plastic treatment of the role, for his temperament and fast pace during difficult situations.

He retired in March 1976, but left the stage in the mid-90s, in small roles.
He passed away on October 9, 2015 at the age of 96.
