In memory of the “Migjeni”`s Theater Ndoc Sheldia
Actor and director of this institution of Albanian culture and art!

It is a group of actors, mainly from the`50-`60, for which it is difficult to find a complete information even though today we have reached the age of technology where information is supposed to have reached the maximum possible. We have called these Albanian actors and artists “Lost Stars” and where this page has again brought them out of the dust of oblivion, remembering them and honoring them with great respect.  Therefore, these actors deserve something like this for their undeniable contribution to Albanian culture and art!

Prologue

Who was the shkodran actor Ndoc Sheldia? Observant viewers of Albanian films can identify him in the role of Gjergj Bardhi in the film “Our land” in 1964, as well as in the role of Mhill Pjetri in “Commissioner of Light”, a poor and hungry peasant undecided from which side to go!

But Ndoc Sheldia was more than these two roles in cinematography and we will talk below about his wider profile in the theater!

A joke told in the men’s assembly at the “Commissioner of Light” is quite significant: “For school, we can wait! For bread, we are bad, thorns are growing in our stomachs says poor Mhilli and continues: “I don’t have children for school! What do we need  school when we can’t fill our bellies with bread”!!!

Yes, it’s a movie joke, said in 1966, when “Commissioner of Light” was made, but even today when we hear it, it makes us to reflect, despite the fact that Mhilli represents in the film a village of the post-war years with some difficulty in the recovery of the country.

Even today it is almost the same picture where it seems as if “Mhilles” continue to say in the contest of time:

“Why do we need education , culture, art….nothing goes into our pockets from school”!!!

Therefore, the actor Ndoc Sheldia and the directors Hysen Hakani and Dhimiter Anagnosti who discovered him receive great artistic value!
