Guri Koço
Actor and director of the theater “A.Z.Cajupi” – Korce and actor of several Albanian films of Kinostudio!
Born in Korce on December 6, 1954. Koco is an actor and director. Graduated from the High Institute of Arts as an actor in 1976. In the same year, he was appointed to the “AZ Cajupi” Theater in Korce. In the classic play “Othello” he successfully plays Iago, standing out for his interpretation, his ability to keep the conflict burning and with high tones.
In 1982, he played in Moliere’s comedy “Kopraci” in the role of Valeri, leaving a deep impression, making his talent as a vigorous, full, passionate actor with an imposing stage presence in action visible. Furthermore, he beautifully interprets a rude as well as servile figure, the role of the director in R. Pulaha’s drama “The Literature Teacher”. Equally successful is the role of the mayor in the other drama “The Accused City” by Teodor Lacos. We cannot leave without mentioning the cinema-theater “Opera for three “groshe”.
Over the years, Guri Koco leaned more towards comic roles, presenting his own tendencies in this genre. It is witnessed in Aristophanes’ comedy “Lysistrata”. all his talents as an actor will be transformed into goals and tendencies in the field of directing.
Thus in v. 1997, always on the stage of the Korca`s theater “AZ Cajupi” puts the comedy “Jovan Bregu the refugee”, where good directorial qualities emerge, but still in full bloom.
Koco appears more confident in the direction of directing in 2002 in Dhimiter Psathai’s comedy “O deputy, o liar”. This year, the comedy “Wake up Vasil” (2002) by the same author was also successful, as well as another comedy staged in v. 2007 “Kiss of Xeno Poulos”.
But Guri Koco would achieve his greatest success in directing in the comedy “Hypocrites” directed by Dh. Psathait, thanks to a fine work he did with the famous actor Aleko Prodani in the role of Quixote.
He also took part in several feature films such as: “Alleys that seeks sun” (1975); “The Monument” (1977); “Dawns of the great season” (1981); “Strange Wedding” (1986); “People in the Stream” (1989); “Mao Ce Dun” (2007) or even after 2000 in several performances of the National Theater such as the drama “Wrong Dinner” (2011) as well as performances in the Metropoli theater in the director’s comedy “There is no man who betrays my wife” of Milto Kutali (2011).
