Fatmir Koçi! Director, screenwriter and producer. He is one of the founders of the film and multimedia school Marubi AFMM, the first film school in Albanian history. He is the President of KKoci Production. He was born in Tirana on November 30, 1959. He finished his studies at ILA in Tirana in the department of drama, and then, in In 1982, he was appointed to Kinostudio "Alhqiperia e Re" as an assistant director. Near this institution, he completed a two-year postgraduate course (1987-1989) for film directing. His first film (co-directed with Flamur Kocin) was "Lumi nuk steron", a film which brings to the audience the feeling of facing adversity, thanks to love for life and its unquenchable flow. In v. 1994 with the film "Obituary" he wins a special jury prize at an International Festival in Montreal (two years later in 1996). While the other film "Tirana year 0" (2001) is the winner of the "Golden Alexander" award at the International Film Festival in Thessaloniki. Chaos, crime, poverty, broken roads, disappointment, desperate people, the relief of a destroyed country after 1990, is the image in the film of a social psychological landscape of Albania. This director, in addition to feature films, has also shot documentary films, among which we can mention "Alternative head" 1996, honored with the "Prix Documentaire" award at the IX edition of the Biennial of Mediterranean Films "Meridiens `97", "Super Balkan" (1988 ) and "Iceland and Art" (1999). In 2008, he shoots the film "Time of the Comet" based on I. Kadare's novel "Viti i mbrapshte". In some of Fatmir Koci's films, an attempt has been made to present the Albanian reality, whether that of the past after the declaration of independence (in the film Time of the Comet), or that of the 1990s, partially achieving the goal. He has undertaken this initiative to bring out the "culprit", the negative factor that has influenced the state of the country in the special historical times that he describes in the films, even surpassing them somehow with mocking, ironic as well as exaggerating nuances, like this who, without wanting to, probably gave Albania a bad image on the movie screen in front of the world, "placing its sins" more than they belong. In general, the shooting of the film shows an introduction of a modern model, but the experience of the 90s and the Albanian public opinion did not prefer these changes, in general there were no preferences for the films and what was produced from the directors of this generation (after the 90s), confirming the crisis of Albanian cinema.
