Ilia Terpini (1938 – 2018) Cinematographer "New Albania". A whole life with the eye on the camera. He was born on December 25. He graduated from the Faculty of Natural Sciences, and was appointed a teacher at the 8-year school in Aranitas, Mallakastra. Then he became its director. At a young age, during the Italian-Greek war, a small camera falls into his hand, which an Italian gives to Ilia's older brother, in exchange for a quail. In high school in Korça, he connected with photographers, who taught him how to use the camera. Ilia Terpini used that camera for five years, then he got a better camera and came into contact with the first Albanian cameraman Mandi Koçi, who had shot the film "Tana". This meeting with Mandi Koçi, the veteran operator at Kinostudios, would change the course of his life. Ilia has stated that he was this master of the Albanian film, that when he got to know his photo albums, he suggested the cinema studios to Ilia. And who wouldn't exchange Aranitas of Mallakastra with Tirana. Ilia was really the school director, but Kinostudio was everyone's dream. And so the career begins…M. Koci attracts him to Kinostudio and he starts working with him as an assistant in the films "Debatik" and "Light Commissioner". He later received the title of operator and then worked with Viktor Gjika and Dhimitër Anagnosti, who were two great directors, continuing afterwards with all the directors Kinostudio has had. He shoots the films "Face to Face", "Teacher". "The last winter", "Who dies on his feet", "The eighth in bronze", "Guns over the wire", "Captain" etc. He worked hard with the directors Dhimitër Anagnosti and Viktor Gjika, but he did not interfere with anyone, the other who asked to have him in the team. Ilia or Llui, as old friends at Kinostudio call him, has also discovered several actresses, some of whom would even become protagonists. For example, this is the case of "Mimoza llastica" Zhaklinen, or "Almen" and "Eighth in bronze" precisely Yllka Mujon. Then he "finds" Rajmonda Bulku for the role of "Eme" in the yard of the polytechnic, to shoot the film "Kercenimi". Ilia Terpini is one of a kind. On television, he did not hesitate to share his experience. I continue until the end of my life, deeply in love with the camera, even though the years that I carried on my shoulder seem to not allow me, just as passionately as before. He stood the test of time, creating indisputable values in Albanian cinematography. For his hard work he was titled "Deserved Artist". He holds the "Labor Medal", "Republic Award", "Medallions in 6 film festivals", "National Award for Artistic Photography" and the "Grand Master" Order. Changes life on July 13, 2018 in Paris _________________ Albanian cinematography has been active since 2013.
